745. ABBA

(September 2026) Episode 745 is ABBA. I began this episode in Stockholm where we visited the ABBA museum. It was craptacular. I learned HOW the group became a global sensation but still do not know WHY they did; why them and not any other Eurovision winner? Admittedly, their big hits are catchy, and while their sound is of the 1970s it does not suffer to become dated. Deeper into their albums, especially the earlier ones, there is more song diversity (yes, the men do sing). It’s mostly pleasant pop, but there is a decent amount of schlock too.

Favorite album: Arrival

Favorite song: Dancing Queen

Compared to expectations: same

Recommendation: The compilation ABBA Gold (one of the top 25 best selling albums of all time) will do you right.
